Nat Luby Electrical is a team of licensed electrical contractors based in Townsville, working across surface and underground operations throughout Queensland.
We are set up for the work a domestic outfit is not: high voltage terminations, fixed plant maintenance, CHPP electrical, shutdown crews and commissioning. Nat holds electrical contractor licence 82289 and the business is a registered labour hire provider, so we can supply a crew to your project as readily as we can quote the job outright.

Nat Luby Electrical is owned and run by Nat Matthew Luby, who still works on the tools alongside the crew. The business became Nat Luby Electrical Pty Ltd in June 2024 and supplies experienced, licensed electricians to mining, industrial and commercial projects across Queensland.
Everything is licensed and documented: electrical contractor licence 82289, ABN 81 678 546 515, and registration as a labour hire provider. That last one matters when a site needs people supplied under a compliant arrangement rather than a handshake.
The mix of work is deliberate. Mining, projects and maintenance is written on the side of both utes because it is genuinely what we do, rather than a list of everything an electrician could theoretically be called out for.
Shutdown windows do not move, so we plan the electrical scope around yours and bring enough licensed hands to finish inside it. Isolations, changeouts, terminations and pre-start testing, documented as we go so the plant comes back up clean.
Crushers, conveyors, screens and wash plants fail in ways that repeat. Our fixed plant maintenance covers scheduled inspections, fault finding on the equipment that keeps tripping, and the unglamorous repair work that stops the same call-out happening next month.
Industrial electrical work runs at voltages and duty cycles that punish shortcuts. We handle switchroom work, cable terminations, motor and drive faults, and the high voltage side of a site where a licensed contractor is not optional.

On construction and expansion projects we take the electrical package from cable routing and containment through to energisation, working to the project programme and the site's own permit and isolation systems.
Planned electrical maintenance is cheaper than an unplanned stop. We run inspection and test routines, thermographic checks on the boards that carry the load, and keep the records that prove the work was done.
Sometimes a project needs electrical capability rather than a fixed scope. We supply supervision, extra crew at peak, and the licensed oversight a project needs when its own team is stretched across several fronts.

Townsville is home and it is where the workshop and both utes are based. From there we cover North Queensland, out west to Cloncurry and Mount Isa, and south through the Bowen Basin to the coal operations around it.
Remote sites are normal work for us rather than an exception, so travel, accommodation and site inductions are part of how we quote instead of a surprise added later. If your operation sits somewhere in Queensland we have not listed, ask anyway.
An electrical contractor is a business licensed to carry out and take responsibility for electrical work, which is different from an individual electrician licensed to perform it. In Queensland that licence is issued by the Electrical Safety Office. Ours is 82289, and you are entitled to ask any contractor for theirs before work starts.
Yes. We work across both surface and underground operations. Underground work carries its own inductions, equipment standards and isolation procedures, and our crew is set up for that rather than treating it as ordinary industrial work performed in a darker place.
Fixed plant is the equipment that stays put and processes material, such as crushers, conveyors, screens and wash plants, as opposed to mobile machinery. Fixed plant maintenance is the electrical inspection, fault finding and repair work that keeps that equipment running between shutdowns.
We can. As a registered labour hire provider we place licensed electricians into your crew for the shutdown window, or we take the electrical scope outright and run it ourselves. Which one suits depends on how your shutdown is organised, so it is worth a conversation before the dates are locked.
Most of our work is outside Townsville. The base is here, but the jobs are on mine sites and industrial operations across Queensland, and the business is built around travelling to them rather than servicing one town.
